Feeding Change: Local food in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria

I spent my second night in Puerto Rico camping in Salinas. I was filming a local aid group as they worked to clear and replant a farm that had been destroyed by Hurricane Maria. After six months, the farm had just regained electricity and the owners were beginning to recover from the storm.

Powerful stories from the island's residents and experts drove me to focus on a growing movement seeking to lessen the dependence of the territory on the mainland U.S. through local food and farming efforts. See the full story, which was picked up by NPR, here.

After returning to Arizona, I worked for months editing this documentary featuring footage from myself and my classmates.

Below is the Spanish version of the story, which was included in the documentary "Puerto Rico Reconstruye" that aired on Univision Arizona. My classmates and editors assisted me with some of the video’s translation.
